Tritax Symmetry has announced that Noatum Logistics has agreed a 230,000 sq ft letting at the second phase of Symmetry Park Biggleswade two months before practical completion of the unit.
The global transport and logistics solutions provider has taken the largest unit on phase two at the Park on a 15-year lease and comes after the company secured a major contract with a luxury clothing brand.
This unit is linked to the new 2MW energy centre which has been installed on site and represents the first joint enterprise project between Tritax Symmetry and sustainable energy solutions provider, BasePower, to supply tenants at the new Biggleswade development with uninterrupted energy services and greener, cheaper energy. The unit is being built to net zero carbon in construction in line with all Tritax Symmetry’s new buildings within its portfolio.
Speaking about the letting, Tom Leeming, development director at Tritax Symmetry, commented: “Noatum’s decision to take take our largest unit on a 15-year lease at Biggleswade and, in doing so, sign up to the new energy centre, demonstrates the progress we have made in providing sustainable long term solutions for our clients. With Bond International already having committed to take unit 5, this means 60% of the site is already committed 3 months prior to PC and leaves the 75,000 sq ft and 160,000 sq ft buildings available with occupier discussions ongoing.”
Nick Hawkins of Noatum Logistics continued: “This new state-of-the-art facility meets our requirements in terms of location, quality of build and from a sustainability perspective. The energy centre was an attractive proposition for us and will help us to continually improve the energy efficiency of our operations.”
The project team includes: Readie Construction; Savills (project management); Feasibility (QS); AJA Architects; Dunwoody (MEP); Hydrock (Civils & Structures) and Woods Hardwick (Planning).
Colliers and Bidwells are joint letting agents for the scheme.
Gordon Reynolds at Cushman & Wakefield advised Noatum.
