Carbon Reduction Commitment Announced With UKGBC Alliance

Through Tritax Big Box REIT plc (TBBR), we are proud to announce we have become a Gold Leaf Member of the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) committing to the low carbon agenda.

We have appointed environmental consultant, Scott Hughes Design as both BREEAM and carbon assessor on our new development portfolio. We currently have a land portfolio of 2,900 acres capable of accommodating 41million sq ft of new logistics buildings.

As part of our commitment, we have formed a working group of Consultants and Contractors, with detailed supply chain engagement, to undertake a detailed review of the specification, design and construction of new buildings. We are dedicated to continuous review to achieve year on year carbon reduction targeting net zero carbon delivery.

Speaking about the the company’s commitment to reducing carbon, Kevin Theobold, head of construction, commented: “This affiliation with UKGBC under the Tritax umbrella is very much a statement of intent. Working with the Green Building Council in conjunction with our wider consultations at national and regional levels will enable us to assist with policy, standardise process and help set out regulation across the industry in both planning and delivery, something which is not yet in place. Our long term objective is to develop net zero carbon logistics facilities and this marks a significant step on that journey.”
